Sheila Foley’s work is representational, not photorealistic. Live spontaneous art and plein air painting, or anything done in natural light, are her favorites. She loves quick cafe sketches and unposed portraits that capture body language. She avoids stiff formality, seeking instead, essence, not detail. Watercolor, acrylic or pen are Sheila’s chosen media these days. It depends on the desired result. The work shown here is older and most has Stoneham connections.

“A true artist’s job is to present you a story or a theme from their life’s thoughts, dreams, or experiences. As you study it, you may realize and reflect those same thoughts and feelings in your life.
Leto’s stories are presented honestly. Life is complex and its stories are universal.
He states to, “Join with all real artists! Our art represents our lives, in its many forms.
From the simple everyday sightings and feelings, we all go through,
to feel in depth our loves and our suffering losses.
View the complex world around us with its many deviations.
The significant historical subjects and ideas that point us to what more we can become.
And to finally see into our mindful and mindless thoughts that may inspire us to
follow our many journeys through it all”.
